Overview

Reporting to the Director of Research Development, the Program Manager for Research Development collaborates closely with the Senior Director of CMRI Laboratory Operations, the Research Safety Officer, and the Program Manager for Research Lab Resources to support and advance research at the CMRI by providing operational and business support for researchers and research enterprise functions.

Responsibilities

Capital Procurement Support 

  • Act as a requestor in capital budgeting, initiative management, and contract intake processes.
  • Assess complexity of purchases and need for institutional oversight processes such as cybersecurity and supply chain review
  • Communicate with vendors and internal reviewers to gather documentation and provide status updates.
  • Track procurement projects to ensure timely progress and resolve delays.
  • Support grant-funded purchases by ensuring compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements.
  • Monitor capital budgets and provide regular expenditure and forecast reports to Research Development leaders.

Research Onboarding and Offboarding Navigator 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new and departing principal investigators (PIs), providing clear guidance, timelines, and support.
  • Conduct CMRI orientation sessions and coordinate with department/division staff to clarify roles and responsibilities.
  • Track onboarding/offboarding progress and follow up on outstanding tasks.
  • Assist new research staff with research-related questions and issues.
  • Identify gaps in current workflows and recommend process improvements.

CMRI Space and Operational Support 

  • Coordinate CMRI space requests and updates, escalating as needed.
  • Maintain accurate space data through audits, floor plan updates, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Support small-scale space projects, including occupant moves and furniture acquisition.
  • Produce and maintain quarterly space reports.
  • Collaborate with IT, facilities, and administrative teams on ad hoc logistical projects.
  • Assist with purchasing and administrative activities, including processing orders, tracking deliveries, maintaining documentation, and communicating with internal teams.

Resource Management Software Support 

  • Serve as a power user for integrated workplace management system (currently Archibus), handling everything from data updates to optimizing system functionality across asset, space, and safety modules.
  • Lead small-scale projects and manage quick-turnaround tasks such as updating equipment records and generating reports.
  • Ensure data accuracy by collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Maintain documentation and continuously evaluate system performance and best practices.

CMRI Summer Scholars Program Management 

  • Lead full lifecycle of the Summer Scholars Program: researcher recruitment, scholar hiring, onboarding, timecards, issue resolution, and offboarding
  • Serve as primary contact for faculty Program Director, HR, IT, Principal Investigators/Coordinators, and scholars
  • Manage program event logistics, process and manage program expenses.
  • Drive program enhancement through survey administration, feedback collection and analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years experience software adoption, change management, project coordination, documentation and reporting, stakeholder engagement, orientation and training

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $29.82/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
