Overview

Summer Nurse Externs are provided an opportunity to become immersed in a health care environment by: working directly with a preceptor in providing direct patient care, practicing clinical skills under the direction of a preceptor, attending education sessions, observing in specialty areas and preparing a project beneficial to the student's assigned unit. Demonstrates a commitment to providing safe and effective care.

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Attends classroom sessions, prepares and presents an education or quality based project.
  • Observes in specialty areas of choice.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent Completion of at least one clinical rotation and current enrollment in an accredited ADN or BSN program and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training on-the-job training
