Overview

The Pharmacy Technician Educator serves as an integral member of the pharmacy team, coordinating the necessary education and training required for technicians. In addition to carrying out initial technician training, this role will complete internal pharmacy audits and controls related to onboarding optimization, quality assurance, and ongoing competency maintenance. The Technician Educator will work with technician leadership as well as the Pharmacist Educator to communicate and strategize findings related to training and trends in educational needs. Role may allow for remote work based on the needs of the department at the discretion of the manager/supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides education to technician staff, students, and interns, related to medication preparation, dispensing, and delivery. Trains staff on how to utilize the electronic health record and pharmacy automation to complete daily technician tasks
  • Maintains quality assurance and regulatory compliance for medication preparation areas by ensuring technicians receive the appropriate training to staff in applicable areas.
  • Serves as a frontline leader by effectively coaching others, maintaining necessary documentation, and assisting departmental leadership with strategic initiatives related to training and education.
  • Establishes and maintains competency in all areas for which they provide training. This includes all technical activities established through policies, procedures, and protocols.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years experience Experience in a pharmacy setting as a pharmacy technician or
  • Associate's Degree and 1-2 years experience Experience in a pharmacy setting as a pharmacy technician
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician - National
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician - MO
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician - KS
  • Employees must obtain Registered Pharmacy Technician - MO or equivalent within 90 days
  • PHARM TECH REG MO Registered Pharmacy Technician - MO Only if primary work location is in Missouri Required 90 Days
  • PHARM TECH REG KS Registered Pharmacy Technician - KS Only if primary work location is in Missouri Required 90 Days
  • Epic Credentialed Trainer Certification Required 180 Days

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $23.02/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
