Overview

This position is necessary to Manage the daily production and performance of Environmental Services employees in the cleanliness & sanitation of all areas of the hospital and its facilities. The Shift Manager trains employees in proper cleaning techniques conforming to infection control guidelines, hospital/departmental policy and other applicable regulations. The manager is also responsible to schedule employees, follow up with discipline, annual competencies, annual evaluations/required trainings, complete patient interviews, and room inspections. Ability to use technology to manage bed tracking system.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Environmental Services Technicians in the performance of their duties during shift.
  • Develop work schedule for employees working on assigned shift including modifying workload for absenteeism and scheduled paid time off.
  • Managers schedule manpower to handle special requests such as office moves, area detailed renovations, convention set-ups and other unique situations.
  • Manager schedules new employees for Environmental Services department orientation and completes just in time training for Environmental Services Technician in proper infection control, safety and cleaning techniques. Manager instructs correct safe use of
  • Managers will interview potential new employees, make recommendations for hire and complete performance evaluations and disciplinary reports as needed.
  • Managers will complete annual performance evaluations for employees

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree and 3-5 years experience 3 years experience in the Environmental Services field and sufficient knowledge of infection control could qualify for consideration as related work experience. or
  • HS diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years experience 5 years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $26.30/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
