Overview

The Senior Director of AI Enablement is a visionary and strategic leader of our AI Center of Excellence (known as the Children's Mercy IDEA Lab) and drives AI-powered transformations across our pediatric health system. This role will shape and execute an enterprise-wide AI strategy, with a particular focus on Generative AI and its potential to revolutionize clinical care, operations, and research. Senior Director will be a dynamic leader, strategic consultant, and technical expert who can partner with executive leadership, technology teams, and business units to deliver impactful, responsible, and scalable AI solutions. Senior Director will not just add incremental improvements, rather the AI Enablement Senior Director will lead a transformative shift in how the enterprise operates.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Provide strategic leadership for enterprise-wide Generative AI adoption by partnering with executive leadership, research, and business units to identify, prioritize, and implement high-impact AI solutions that drive innovation in diagnostics, therapeutics, and operational efficiency.
  • AI Enablement & Innovation: Lead the CM IDEA Lab, driving the vision and execution of AI initiatives across the health system, including the development of agentic AI solutions and AI-assisted operations to enhance productivity. Collaborate with IT to integrate advanced AI models into actionable, system-wide tools.
  • Governance, Ethics, and Performance: Lead the development and oversight of AI governance frameworks to ensure ethical, transparent, and compliant AI practices, while continuously evaluating performance and impact through data-driven insights to refine strategy and execution.
  • Team Building Leadership: Lead and grow a high-impact team of AI Solutions Architects and Engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. Partner with cross-functional analysts to drive successful integration and adoption of AI technologies accross the organization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Change Management: Serve as a strategic leader in AI adoption by championing Generative AI, leading change management initiatives, and translating complex AI concepts into accessible insights for diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree and 10+ years experience in software development, data science, AI, analytics or related experience.
  • At least five years of total work experience in leadership roles preferred.
  • AI Ethics Preferred
  • Project Management Preferred
  • Change Management Preferred

Starting Pay

This position is entirely remote or work from home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area or request advanced approval to work outside of the area and may attend onsite meetings, as scheduled.
