Overview

The individual serving in this position is the initial contact for new volunteers and time donors, serving as the Children's Mercy enterprise's first impression. The Volunteer Services Manager is responsible for providing leadership in the development and administration of 900 volunteers and volunteer related operations, services and programs that enhance the philanthropic donor engagement of volunteers within the hospital system. This position oversees both volunteer onboarding and compliance resources. This position collaborates with multiple external departments (i.e. Security, Education, PFS, PFE, Guest Services, Ambulatory leaders) to develop and maintain volunteer roles as needed to enhance the CM enterprise and will require in-depth understanding of current processes and hospital standards. In-hospital volunteers will be led to serve the enhancement of the pediatric experience for patients, families and guests in a therapeutic and patient/family centered care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages initial and ongoing compliance of all nonemployee volunteers constituent (700+ with continued annual growth) records including: Human Resources compliance processes and reporting required by local, regional, Federal and regulatory agency regulations including but not limited to: volunteer onboarding application and requirements, vaccination and health verification, interviews, initial background checks, biennial background checks, and database integrity.
  • Program Manager leads the administration of volunteers system-wide, including volunteer communication, on-boarding activities, interviewing, orientation, placement, transfer or termination of volunteer resources.
  • Program Manager leads the development and execution of in-hospital donor engagement opportunities by way of creating volunteer roles in various services and programs within the enterprise.
  • Manage and support CM staff, interns and volunteers in areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Child Development/Child Life, Human Resources, Business Administration, Customer Service, Volunteer/ Nonprofit Management and Database Management preferred 5-7 years' experience. Volunteer management and/or Child Life/family studies experience and Human Resource/Nonprofit Management. Related work experience is required to effectively manage resources, facilitate complex work relationships, delegate work assignments and to integrate and process information. Experience multitasking and great organizational skills.
  • Nonprofit Connect- Volunteer Management Institute Required within first year of hire.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $26.80/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based upon your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
