Overview

Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas offers care through:

  • Our pediatric inpatient unit
  • The Tom Watson Emergency Department
  • Over 30 pediatric specialty clinics

The Department of Social Work provides licensed social workers and other social service professionals to support families in nearly every inpatient and outpatient setting across the health system and into the community.  

 

Medical Social Work Services Provided:

Therapeutic Support

  • Supportive counseling related to: 
    • Adjustment to illness
    • Lifestyle changes
    • End of life
    • Grief and bereavement
    • Financial needs
    • Family stressors and other concerns
  • Mental health and intervention

Care Planning

  • Healthcare Decision-making (advance directives, power of attorney, etc)
  • School/IEP/504
  • Transition to adult care
  • Legal Needs
  • Care transition externally and within CMH when support needs remain outside of an episode of care

Resource Education and Community Referrals 

  • Benefits (WIC, Medicaid, SSI, Food Stamps, Housing)
  • Transportation support
  • Temporary Lodging via Caregiver Self-Referral to the Ronald McDonald House

The social workers identify and intervene with at-risk populations to mitigate psychosocial barriers to optimal care outcomes. Social workers provide services to children, adolescents, and adult patients/families/staff at Children's Mercy and complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans in conjunction with internal and external team members.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree MSW from Accredited Program
    • 1-2 years experience
  • LMSW KS Licensed Master's Social Worker KS must have a license in the state of primary work location upon hire and then be dually licensed in both states within 90 days of employment
    • LMSW MO Licensed Master's Social Worker MO must have a license in the state of primary work location upon hire and then be dually licensed in both states within 90 days of employment 
  • LSCSW KS Licensed Clinical Social Worker Specialist KS must have a license in the state of primary work location upon hire and then be dually licensed in both states within 90 days of employment OR Required 90 Days
    • LCSW MO Licensed Clinical Social Worker MO must have a license in the state of primary work location upon hire and then be dually licensed in both states within 90 days of employment OR Required 90 Days

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $28.25/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
