Overview

The Senior Application Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of business-critical applications. Key duties include maintaining business-critical software systems, leading software installations and upgrades, designing and testing disaster recovery procedures, and conducting recurring tests. The role also involves creating technical documentation for software systems architecture, integrations, and subsystems, establishing and maintaining monitoring and proactive event management, and providing tier 4 technical support during service degradation in collaboration with the Tiered Support and Application teams. Additionally, Senior Engineer ensures that software systems comply with technology and cybersecurity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains business-critical software systems. Leads the design, implementation, upgrades, and continuous enhancement of business-critical application architecture and lifecycle processes, as well as disaster recovery capabilities. Partners with clinical and non-clinical application teams to understand and document the applications purpose, functionality, and integration points
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation of software systems architecture, integrations, and subsystems
  • Design and Testing Disaster Recovery Functionality and Recurring Testing - Designs and documents technical system disaster recovery process and procedures, that meets RTO/RPO standards and in partnership with infrastructure architecture and engineering
  • Provides tier 4 technical support during service degradation and outages
  • Maintains monitoring and proactive event management

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree computer science or similar focus. and 5-7 years' experience as an application support engineer or closely related positions. OR
  • High School diploma, or equivalent, and 10 years of experience as an application support engineer or closely related positions.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) Preferred
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) Preferred
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Preferred
  • Agile & Scrum Certifications Preferred
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals Preferred
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $45.83/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based upon your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
