Overview

This general neurology position will see a variety of pediatric patients with various neurological concern including patients with concern for headache and chronic headaches, rule out seizures, tic and Tourette Syndrome and movement disorders.

 

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse II (APRN II) provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. The APRN-II participates in beginning leadership, evidenced-based practice/ research, and organizational development activities with the support and direction of an experienced APRN mentor.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice: proficiently provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care based on the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.
  • Professional Leadership: advances the practice of nursing by inspiring others to positively impact the care of children and families in our community.
  • Evidenced-based Practice/QI/Research Inquiry: improves patient/family outcomes by utilizing evidence to translate science to practice.
  • Organizational Development: influences organizational policy in order to achieve and sustain practice improvements and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience with Masters. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty. or
  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) - preferred and 1-2 years experience 1 year pediatric APRN experience. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty.
  • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • APRN MO Advanced Practice Registered Nurse MO APRN document of recognition in Missouri Required Upon Hire
  • APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) in MO & KS Required Upon Hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Primary Care PNP will be required 
    • Will have two years to be enrolled in a program and five years to complete the program 
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred
