Overview

The Coordinator of Inkind Gifts and Volunteer Resources will lead, direct and manage the solicitation and distribution of all In-kind donations throughout multiple locations of Children's Mercy Hospital. This position ensures all gifts are utilized in the best, most efficient and safe manner to support patients and families.

 

This is a very physical role, managing the intake and distribution of large quantities of tangible gifts for the Philanthropy Department. This important behind-the-scenes role will work daily to move product through the system into the hands of our patients and families!

 

The perfect candidate will have previous inventory, warehouse, or shipping and receiving experience or desire to learn!

Responsibilities

Responsible for the seamless coordination and distribution of inkind gifts and other philanthropic giving to the hospital:

  • Serves as the relationship manager of inkind donors to the hospital
  • Creates and maintains a formalized process and procedure for the distribution of goods and resources to all CM locations that upholds quality and safety standards
  • Partner and collaborates with other hospital departments, ambulatory clinics, offsite areas to develop and execute productive, safe processes for deployment, and maintenance of inkind donation items
  • Connects with community organizations and donors to solicit support through inkind gifts that meets the unique needs of hospitalized patients and families.
  • Coordinates drop off times, tours for inkind, and the donor experience 
  • Manages communication with ambulatory clinics and offsite areas including product recalls (RASMAS).
  • Completes and manages all quality and safety checks of inkind donations to the hospital, including oversite of volunteers and employee ambassadors that support the department with handling inkind donations and quality checks.
  • Maintains spaces for inkind donation supplies and sorting keeping areas organized and lean
  • Maintain accurate records for inkind donations and internal and external community and employee events including clerical processing in Raiser’s Edge donor database

Develops and initiates innovative volunteer activities and in-kind giving programs to cultivate the donor relationship with Children's Mercy Hospital:

  • Plays a critical role in supporting and developing ideas that meet strategic initiative goals to increase philanthropic engagement from community stakeholders.
  • Identifies ways to meaningfully engage individual donors of all ages with the hospital, ensuring that donors and volunteers find gratification in their gifts of time and in-kind.
  • Initiates innovative donor activities based on seasons, holidays, events, and trends that will excite and engage a variety of donor constituents.
  • Develops and maintains a donor journey program

Provides organization and direct administrative support to the volunteer services office:

  • Responsible for coordinating and performing stellar customer relations that promote Service Excellence for volunteer office
  • Understands and can execute and complete opening and closing procedures for volunteer office.
  • Anticipates recurring or future needs of donors and customers and develops processes to streamline responses and interventions for smooth service delivery
  • Proactively assesses all incoming communications from donors, volunteers, and staff and intervenes appropriately with timely follow through and follow up if needed
  • Collaborates with staff to assess section needs regarding the development, growth and implementation of new programs and initiatives
  • Maintains high functioning attributes that lend to the positive work environment aligned with the organizations culture of care, service and respect
  • Helps maintain off site and onsite warehouses inventory for program needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years experience.  Previous experience with volunteers, donor relations, communications and marketing, or child development strongly preferred.
  • Drivers License, KS Licensed Driver KS. Must be insurable under the hospitals current insurance carrier requirement Required Upon Hire OR
  • Drivers License, MO Licensed Driver MO. Must be insurable under the hospitals current insurance carrier requirement Required Upon Hire

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $21.70/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
