Overview

The Children’s Mercy neurology department ranks among America’s top pediatric neurology programs, according to U.S. News & World Report. We provide innovative solutions to care for your child, like the Sarli Family Foundation Neurology Clinic, and our Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, one of only twelve pediatric epilepsy centers in the nation.

The Children's Mercy Comprehensive Stroke Center is the only pediatric stroke center in the region and one of just ten in the nation. Rapid diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services help kids who experience a stroke to receive the best possible care.

 

Neurology services include:

  • Brain imaging
  • Evaluation of anti-epileptic drug efficacy and adversity
  • Vagal nerve stimulator implantation
  • Inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit
  • Epilepsy surgery
  • Outpatient epilepsy clinic
  • Neurophysiologic testing: Brain Stem Audio Evoked Response (BSAER)
  • Electroencephalogram
  • Evoked potentials
  • Intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring
  • Somatosensory responses
  • Video-EEG monitoring

 

The Nurse Manager manages unit-based patient care services; including personnel and fiscal management and development of programs and services. Participates in department and hospital performance improvement activities. Provides family centered patient care that is based in scientific theory and is outcome focused.

If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel management.
  • Comprehensive unit management and development of programs and services.
  • Participates in department and organization performance improvement activities.
  • Fiscal management and accountability.
  • Actively participates and provides leadership for education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
    • 1-2 years experience At least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing, and an additional 6 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients 
  • Master's Degree preferred
    • 1-2 years experience 
  • LEAN experience preferred
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Director) Required Upon Hire

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $44.67/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
