Overview

The Developmental and Behavioral Health Division at Children’s Mercy cares for children and teens who need extra support with developmental, psychiatric, or psychological concerns. We understand that a child’s mental, emotional, and behavioral health is an integral part of their well-being. A variety of services are offered to best meet the patient’s needs. Our developmental pediatricians provide medical evaluation and specialty care for children with developmental disorders such as autism and intellectual disability. They can also manage medication and other treatments for symptoms such as impulsivity, inattention, anxiety, and agitation. Our psychiatry clinic provides medication management for mental health conditions such as ADHD, mood disorders, Tourette’s and eating disorders. The Depression, Anxiety, in Youth (DAY) clinic offers a personalized care team to provide education and treatment to children and adolescents ages 12-17 with depression and anxiety disorders. Our nationally recognized care centers, The Eating Disorders Center and Tourette Center, offer a multi-disciplinary approach to serve the patient and their family. 

 

Under the direction and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager provides guidance, supervision, and leadership for unit staff. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager with unit based materials management. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides family-centered patient care that is based in scientific theory and is outcome focused, supervises the delivery of patient care and manages shift operations, and demonstrates commitment to maintaining and improving departmental/unit standards. The Assistant Nurse Manager solves problems effectively, communicating and collaborating with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Management of clinical support team, assisting with clinic needs 
  • Operational oversight over clinical processes and flow across various clinics
  • Collaborates with  providers, nursing, and other departments to monitor the long-range strategic plan and departmental goals and objectives
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/famly which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Nurse Leader, manages unit material resources, such as equipment and supplies.
  • Under the direction of and collaboration with the Nurse Manager, provides leadership for unit meetings, assigned committees, and educational activities.
  • Provides leadership for effective problem solving, communication and collaboration between stakeholders to achieve the common goal of safe, high quality patient care.
  • Participates in department and organization performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree BSN required and 1-2 years experience
    • Preferred expereince in pediatric clinical nursing, progressive experience in leadership roles, performance improvement and change management
  • Master's Degree Preferred A master's degree in nursing may be accepted in lieu of a BSN.
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $36.75/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
