Overview

The Clinical Genetics and Genomics laboratory (CGGL) performs state of the art clinical testing for rare pediatric disease including both short and long read genome sequencing and optical genome mapping. We are seeking a candidate for the role of Genomic Analyst I who will perform analysis and interpretation of variants and draft patient reports under the supervision and guidance of CGGL Directors. This candidate will ensure adherence to quality control, quality assurance, and record keeping standards. Additional opportunities include assisting with manuscript preparation, test validation and software evaluation. Attendance to case conferences and other opportunities are required for continuing education.

Responsibilities

- Assist in the analysis of multiple types of clinical genomic datasets including short read genomes, Hi-Fi genomes, microarrays, and optical genome mapping.

- Provide interpretation and reporting of genomic variants and curation of gene-disease relationships using ACMG guidelines, ClinGen, published literature and other resources.

- Participate in continuous quality assurance activities.

- Perform additional job-duties as assigned.

Qualifications

-Master's Degree in Genetics or related field and 3-5 years of experience; prefer those with Genetic Counseling background. OR

-Ph.D. Genetics or related field; prefer experience in variant interpretation

-Experience includes time in industry and/or academia in the analysis and interpretation of the clinical significance of genomic variation and its mechanism/relationship to human disease.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $34.90/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work from home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area or request advanced approval to work outside of the area and may attend onsite meetings, as scheduled.
