Overview

Performs routine and preventive maintenance on electronic medical equipment and clinical equipment in a hospital. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of biomedical equipment with minimal supervision. Has a comprehensive knowledge level and experienced in most or all facets of job. Possesses an intermediate level of expertise and is capable of assisting less experienced technicians. Demonstrates ability to learn from others on the job and can teach basic skills to BMET I technicians. Optionally can mentor others in basic skills and possesses comprehensive understanding and skills related to general electro-mechanical systems and devices.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs on medium to high risk, single and multi component, single and multi unit, medical equipment. This equipment could be considered general or specialized patient care types of equipment that may or may not pose danger or misdiagnosis to a patient, and where backup equipment may or may not be available.
  • form scheduled PM or safety testing in those areas assigned as primary areas of responsibility.
  • Receives training on equipment in order to perform the service duties required.
  • Coordinates outside services.
  • Orders replacement parts as parts are used from inventory, orders parts to complete repairs of down equipment.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent Basic electronics training from a junior college, military, or trade school. Graduation from a BMET program may be military or college, that includes medical equipment training, medical terminology, and some internship at a hospital preferred. The applicant should have had by this time formal factory training on several of the general types of medical equipment use in a hospital. and 3-5 years experience At this level of employment the individual would be expected with only a short period of time (six months) be familiar enough with the hospital to assume responsibility for servicing several types of equipment generally found in a hospital and familiar with enough types to assume servicing of some the areas of the hospital with minimal training.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $27.62/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
