Overview

The Director of Financial Accounting, CPA reports to the Vice-President of Finance and is responsible for the management of the Shared Services and Clinical Operations Accounting teams. The Director will plan, implement, manage, coordinate, and maintain systems, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of Enterprise operations in accordance with GAAP. Directs financial analysis of entity results to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and to highlight operational trends and budget variances. Partner with leaders across the Enterprise to evaluate business operations and provide solutions for appropriate accounting treatment, accounting processes, internal controls, and revenue/expense alignment. The Director of Financial Accounting promotes the Enterprise's commitment to financial integrity, lean accounting, cross-functional collaboration, and accurate reporting. This position focuses the team on continuous improvement of financial information systems and processes and seeks ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of financial reporting controls. This position requires abundant interaction with personnel within Finance, Revenue Cycle, Supply Chain, Clinical Operations, Internal Audit, Auditors, and other experts.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the development, maintenance, and adherence to standardized accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP and Lean Accounting to ensure accurate reporting and reliable records for the Enterprise. Includes evaluation of and documentation of internal controls supporting the Enterprise financial statements and processes.
  • Directs financial analysis of entity results to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and to highlight operational trends and budget variances.
  • Partner with leaders across the Enterprise to evaluate business operations and provide solutions for appropriate accounting treatment, accounting processes, internal controls, and revenue/expense alignment.
  • Responsible for directing the management of staff as assigned, including Shared Services and Clinical Operations.
  • Directs the activities for team members supporting the ERP system, in support of direction from the Director of Financial Reporting.
  • Lead, implement and train on LEAN and Continuous Improvement opportunities for accounting processes and activities. (1)Lead Tier 1 huddles as well as participate and lead Tier 2 huddles. (2)Establish an environment of ongoing education and training around LEAN and Continuous Improvement concepts. (3)Implement standard work procedures and processes for continuity and training. (4)Execute leader standard work to problem solve and move forward team responsibilities and objectives. (5)Coach teams to identify waste and develop/implement solutions

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 7 or more years' experience. Progressive leadership experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required. 
  • Familiarity with the following software preferred: Infor Financial Cloud Suite (General Ledger), Blackline (Account reconciliation), Strata (Reporting)

     

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this offer will be determined based upon your education and experience.

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings a couple of days per month.
