Overview

Overall responsibility for designing and delivering data analysis solutions to extract biological meaning from genomic data, including development of novel software applications, technology assessment and adoption, defining IT infrastructure, algorithm selection, budget management and collaborating with medical staff and research investigators. Serves as primary point of contact for bioinformatics analysis in support of clinical and research programs and sequencing lab operations. Provides direction, objectives, and evaluation of work performed by members of the Genome Center informatics and software development team. Responsible for laboratory validation studies and process definition as required by the College of American Pathologists and other regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction for all aspects of the Genome Center cloud and software architecture, development, and support including development of bioinformatics methods and computational pipelines as needed. Provides conceptual and strategic plans for the development of necessary applications, interfaces, and databases to support Genome Center operations.. Works actively with clinical and research staff to define analytical and software development requirements.
  • Provides technical and analytical direction, objectives and evaluation of work performed by members of the Genome Center informatics and software development team.
  • Provides leadership and consulting services in all aspects of genome sequencing and computational data analysis, use of public genomic databases, data mining, machine learning, and standard statistical analysis of research data. Defines architecture, structure, and analysis of research data for Genome Center research projects.
  • Develop the Children?s Mercy Genome Center group into a recognized leader in the field of genomics capability and expertise associated with the research of pediatric medicine and disease.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 or more years experience accepted in lieu of a degree

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. Your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
